Subsequent to a competitor of ours starting the robot project but then declaring it to be infeasible.

  • Equipping and emptying of two hydroforming (internal high pressure) presses using 3 Kuka robots.
  • The robots operate in a network. That means that 2 robots alternately reach into the working area inside the press
  • Cycle time optimisation from 1min:56 sec, to the required 1min:25 sec.
  • Implementation of an automatic home strategy (automatic home strategy = no matter where one of the robots is stopped in the programme sequence, a home position can be requested on the system. The robots will then move, without crashing, to their home position and can be started again from there.)
  • The special feature in this case was that a special strategy was necessary – depending on the gripper load – so that the robots always ended up with an empty gripper in the home position. And the entire system could be restarted without manual intervention by the worker.
